International Yoga Day 2019

The Initiative

We all are aware of the fact that, the date June 21st  has been declared as the "International Yoga Day" by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. It was India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who gave the proposal to observe this day as International Yoga Day during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India and today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.  International Yoga Day is a great effort to emphasize the importance of inculcating this ancient Indian art in our lives. International Yoga Day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

Logo of International Yoga Day

Here, folding of both hands in the logo Symbolise Yoga, the union, which reflects the union of individual Consciousness with that of universal Consciousness, a perfect harmony between mind & body, man & nature; a holistic approach to health & well being. Further, the brown leaves symbolise the Earth element, the green leaves symbolise the Nature, blue symbolises the Water element, brightness symbolises the Fire element and the Sun symbolise the source of energy and inspiration. This logo truly reflects harmony and peace for humanity, which is the essence of Yoga.
People mindset on Yoga is like it is only a physical exercise which is false understanding and holds no truth in it.  Yoga is a science, it is a systematic process which gradually dissolve all the illusions of mind so that the mind becomes a dynamic center of direct perceptions. Through this practice one can understand and experience the supreme Truth that God is within us. So we shall have to offer something spiritual to our mind and soul and if we stop giving, it will revolt. This ancient spiritual science offers a calmer, happier and more fulfilled life for a person. International Yoga Day, celebrated on the 21st of June, is an ode to the ancient Indian art of yoga. Inculcating yoga in our daily lives can bring about a positive change in our life. It offers a great relief to our otherwise stressful lives.
